The European Champions want to repeat their triumph at Spain this autumn and national team's coach, Panagiotis Giannakis has just announced the 18 players that will fight for the 12 places in the final roster of the national team that will fly to Spain on September for the Eurobasket.
The selection: Dimitris Diamantidis (Panathinaikos), Vasilis Spanoulis (Houston Rockets), Nikos Zisis (CSKA), Theodoros Papaloukas (CSKA), Papamakarios (Olympiakos), Nikos Hatzivrettas (Panathinaikos), Perperoglou (Panathinaikos), Vassileiadis (Malaga), Panagotis Vasilopoulos (Olympiakos), Michalis Kakiouzis (Barcelona), Fotsis (Dynamo), Dimos Dikoudis ( (Panathinaikos), Tsartsaris (Panathinaikos), Pelekanos (Panellinios), Lazaros Papadopoulos (210-C-80) (Real Madrid), Sofocles Schortsianitis (Olympiakos), Giannis Bourousis (Olympiakos), Andreas Glyniadakis (Vidivici Bolognia).
The players will start their training at the 20th of July with the appropriate medical tests and on the 23rd of July will go to Karpenisi for the first stage of their actual training.
The coach was the first to give the moto for the whole squad: "I hope that everybody will rest and be fit enough in order to present himself with the best of their will, as we have a lot of worh ahead of us. They should be both physically and mentally ready, in order to avoid any problems and in order to work hard for the challenge we have in front of us: the Eurobasket of Spain".
The national team will play eight games in order to be the best prepared the possible for the forthcoming Eurobasket:
