Our New $6.3 Million soccer stadium has finally been finished. It has proven to be a great success opening just before our arafura games. Games have been played on it all this week and its showing to be a worthy ground to now hold Australian A league games.
The Stadium can hold around 3000 spectators, its fully equiped with everything we need to hold an event like an A league game. Should the NT now make a side to challenge the teams that will come up for games???

Exactly right noone gives a fuck about how good the team is its whether its financially viable. Secondly theres no way you could field a team that would get within 10 goals of a melbourne team. Your coach will be sniffing oily rags in the dugout with the board members and ur goal keeper will get arrested for breaking into cars before the game.

Um, a sh*tty New Zealand team is gonna be let in again (Wellington) and there gonna get crowds of below 3,000, so what Petro says kinda makes sense.
So really anyone that's actually bothered to follow the crowd figures would obviously realise that a crowd of 3,000 is exactly not that poor when you compare it so a few of the smaller teams in the A-League who get under 10,000...

really? Than Perth, Central Coast and for alot of the season Newcastle were gettin under 10,000.. And New Zealand were getting about 1,500. So in other words, half the league...

Three teams averaged less than 10,000 in the A-League and the average was about 13,000. Why would you add in an extra team with a CAPACITY of 3,000 (which means you'd get 3,000 or less a game, doofus). Three thousand, incidentally, is just nearly around about what the NSL was averaging.

even 10,000 for a city of over 100,000 would be good, 3000Max is shit. Look in the EPL, Wigan and Reading, both towns in England with a population of around 100,000 were averaging around 20,000 a game.

he was saying that we will host a league matches.. not that we will have an a league team.. as in other states teams will come here and play. Also Soccer isn't the number one sport, it gets shafted like fuck so thats why we don't get big crowds, big stadiums etc.

A-LEAGUE COMING TO THE TERRITORY
The Territory Government and Football Federation Australia announced that Darwin will host its
first ever A-League fixture today.
Minister for Sport and Recreation Kon Vatskalis said the Government has agreed to provide
$78,000 to bring the defending champions Melbourne Victory to play Perth Glory in a preseason
clash on July 28.
“Having the defending champions play in Darwin is an incredible coup only possible because of
our significant investment in soccer,” Mr Vatskalis said.
“The game will be held at our new $7 million Football Stadium.
“It will be a great opportunity for Territorians to meet some of their heroes as both teams will
participate in some community coaching sessions.
“The Melbourne Victory squad includes last year’s 5-goal Grand Final hero, Socceroo Archie
Thompson.
“Sport is part of the Territory lifestyle and football is no exception - we have a very strong top
level local league and the junior participation rate is incredible.”
President of NT Football Federation Ziko Ilic said he was looking forward to the opportunities
the A-League game brings to the Territory.
“I am looking forward to showing the rest of Australia that we have top class facilities and that
Darwin can and should be considered for future opportunities,” Mr Ilic said.

Maybe you can vs Inter Lions from Sydney. They play in Division 1 NSW which is really a Division 3 NSW as on top of it is the Premier League followed by the Super League. If you can beat a NSW 3rd Division Side, then that would be massive.

Superstars of today? Please tell me one superstar from the NSL (actually, one Australian superstar at all). The NSL was so good that we've made two world cups and neither of them were made while an NSL existed. The NSL was so good that there were about 50 people rocking up a game eventually. The peoples game, hahaha, the A-League shits all over what the NSL had become

When the Sydney 2000 olympic games was held at Sydney Olympic park it had a seating capacity of around 110,000 and once they removed the cauldron additional seating was added, increasing the total seating amount.

when the commonwealth games was held in melbourne, melbourne olympic park held around 90,000 seating capacity

if you guys at darwin can get a full capacity crowd of 3000 spectators each time , every time at your games then you guys got something going

Nick Carle's a superstar is he? Obviously the majority of our national team are going to have come from the NSL, it was the national league until 3 years ago. I don't understand why that's a hard concept to grasp. It's like Greek fans saying that the Superleague sucks because all of our superstars came from the A' Ethniki. The Superleague is a year old for God's sake, the A-League is two.
