apparently theres a new 100 level octane petrol recently released.

Shell Optimax Extreme is formulated to deliver more engine responsiveness, sharper acceleration and enhanced power in many modern and high performance vehicles compared to other Shell premium fuels

theres 5% ethanol added in it and im not sure if this is a good or bad thing?

Shell Optimax Extreme will initially be available at selected Coles Express sites in the Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Canberra.

did it improve your cars performance etc??

if u used it what are your thoughts?

i've tried it its not bad , but from 98% octane to 100% octane i don't see the point for killing yourself over 2 octane points.

it would only be good and show alot of difference for very heavly modified cars.

I drive a 2004 Volkswagen Golf. I only use premium unleaded 95 octane. Sometimes i use 98 octane. I only use BP Petrol. I would not put shell in my car. There is no way i would put petrol in my car that has ethanol in it.

OK ive finally used optimax extreme, its not bad but i agree with you. Its no different to 98 RON octane. I had to travel 20 ks to obtain it but still, i dont think ill use it again...

i only got 570 from a full tank, where 1/4 of the tank was from stop-start type driving and the other remaining 3/4 was from driving from sydney to canberra.

sure you feel the power and acceleration when you take off from lights, after that not much difference compared to other fuels. Because i mainly do highway driving i prefer something which is more economic in the long run.

Ive heard that Shell Optimax and Optimax Extreme contain like addictives in it which if used repeatedly over a period of time it can do more harm than good to your engine.

Other petrol which i find to be economical is vortex 95 (vortex 98 drinks it like water) and Shell optimax and Mobil Synergy.

I agree with sennitsa, BP Ultimate has to be the best fuel available on the market, its value for dollar and i get the most ks out of it (from 680-800 ks full tank).

exactly louky for 2 points more octane you won't see the difference out of anything its just a new product to get it to sell thats all but to boost up more points in octane you need ethanol to equal out the equation.

louky i know where you live , because i do alot of highway driving as well and i assume you use the m5 alot anyways wink.gif
