PAOK - VFB STUTTGART 1-2, Day 3 of UEFA CUP Group Stage
PAOK were only 5 minutes away from their first victory in the UEFA CUP Group Stage, but two goals from Ljuboja deprived them of hoping to capture the valuable three points.
The German team was superior during the game and this was something that did not hide Mr. George Kostikos, PAOK Head-Coach, in the press conference just after the end of the game. After this result, PAOK lost the chance to approach the top of the group's classification and at the same time gave the chance to VFB Stuttgart to reach Shakhtar Donetsk and Rapid Bucuresti, all having now 6 points.
PAOK was the team that scored first and particularly in the second minute of the second half. Haralambous struck a corner from the right side, Karipidis caught the header winning all the rival defenders and scored as Hildebrand did not manage to block the ball. VFB Stuttgart equalised in the 85th minute, with a powerful shot from Ljuboja outside of the big area. Ljuboja again was the man who gave the victory to his team, as he converted the penalty that whistled Mr. Davila two minutes before the final whistle.
Both teams ended the game with one player short, as Mr. Davila dismissed Silvio Meissner in the 75th minute and Ifeanyi Udeze 14 minutes later

Unfortunately it always happens that way. Come to think about it, he can play left wing i think and we are in need of a good left winger...

03' Rochat (own goal)
37' Hristodoulopoulos
69' Briand
78' Yiasoumi
83' Salpigidis (pen.)
89' Yiasoumi
PAOK managed to give a happy end to their last UEFA Cup game for the season 2005-06, as they defeated Stade Rennais 5-1 at Toumba Stadium, despite the bad weather conditions. This was the first victory after 2 seasons in European competitions. The last one was about 2 years ago against Lyn (Norway) in Oslo, final score 0-3.
At Toumba Stadium, PAOK had not succeded in taking a victory since 2002, when they had won Slavia Prague 1-0. It is useful to mention that they scored exactly 5 times in a game for the last time back in 12th of August 1997, in a 5-3 win against Slovakian Spartak Trnava.
PAOK scored just 3 minutes after the kick off, when Shikabala crossed the ball from the right wing and Rochat scored an own goal trying to clear the ball. Hristodoulopoulos with an impressive shot in the 37th minute scored the second goal for his team, when he converted a very clever pass from Maladenis outside of the big area. Stade Rennais reduced to 2-1 in 69', when Sow and Briand tricked their opponents and with a nice shot Briand beated Fernandes.
Yiasoumi with a close shot in 78' scored the third one, after a defenders' tragic mistake and Salpigidis with a penalty the fourth one in 83'. The final 5-1 formed Yiasoumi again, with a superb turning shot after a cross from Shikabala and a header stopped at Pouplin's horizontal post

PAOK-OFI, Day 14 of the championship
Two goals in the first half of the game were enough to give PAOK the victory and the three precious winning points. About 4.000 football fans attended the game and they surely left satisfied, as they saw their favourite team coast to a 2-0 win and keep the fifth position in the overall standings with 23 points.
GOALS
36' Hristodoulopoulos scored a goal off a foul kick to give PAOK a 1-0 lead. Sifakis tried to punch out but failed to clear.
42' The clever methods of PAOK's attackers confused and confounded OFI's defensive system a few meters outside of the box and Anastasiadis, while trying to clear the ball, passed the ball to Salpigidis, who didn't find difficulties in sending the ball into the back of the net.
Good to see us back on track
