has anyone been on the new M7 motorway?

been on there the other day and its awesome. i did the full trip. its all high speed pretty much from prestons to baulkham hills and it takes you all the way up to norwest business park.

it cuts travelling time by half, bad thing is that theres a toll involved.

its toll free until january 15th 2006.

just a quick note the last exit is norwest , then after that the M2 pretty much starts.

i havent used the M7, but from what i hear, all is good.

i want to whinge about the M5 which i use on a daily basis.

firstly, why build a tunnel with only 2 lanes when the liverpool/campelltown region of sydney is one of the fatest growing areas of sydney. 2 lanes does not service the population using that rd, wouldnt it make common sense to build a tunnel with 4 lanes, and the current M5 roadway from the bexley north tunnel 4 lanes too, in say 10 yrs time, the rd would reach full capacity. there is always bumper to bumper traffic in the tunnel during peak hr, only to find that once you have exited the tunnel, its a clear run blink.gif

why is that?

my belief is that the cars about to exit the tunnel slow down as they reach the tunnel exit , as the rd inlcines up to say 30 degrees.all you need is one car to slow down to 50km/h, then all the other cars behind, by natural reaction, all slow down, causing the effect that there is a accident/breakdown in the tunnel

so you morons, dont slow down, keep travelling at the 80km/h mark, then the tunnel gridlock is alleviated.

what do you think?

with the new m7 completed and operational, they have added an extra lane around the crossroads area to accomodate the extra traffic flow. having said that, there are now 3 lanes from the crossroads leading towards campbelltown. smile.gif

that point at the end of the tunnel is the worst. i hate it when u drive on a sunny day and as u exit the tunnel u get all this sun in your eyes.

yeah that uphill grade is a bit of a bummer, sux dont it?

before that uphill grade, i chuck it in 4th gear so i dont lose my speed and continue travelling @ 80km/h. once the road becomes straight again i chuck it in 5th. u gotta love high speed driving smile.gif
