Well not much on offer from what i have seen in terms of a decent NYE party in Melb, so looks like the good old house party might me the go.

However this NYE the parea and i think the good old beach gathering will be much more fun, we can blast the Greek and dance the zebs on the beach hehehe

MORE than 170 staff will be on duty at Flinders St station, and 20 train officers will be in cars ready to drive to trouble spots, as public transport braces for Melbourne's biggest New Year's ever.

With free trains, trams and buses running all night and record crowds expected in the CBD, a one-way passenger flow system will be tested at Flinders St station.
Connex spokesman Andrew Cassidy said officers in cars would be on standby around the suburbs.

"Groups of customer services officers in mobile vehicles will be stationed around the suburbs," he said. They will be sent to trouble spots at unattended stations and where trains pulled up because of misbehaviour or illness on board.

Forty-five stations will be open all night and, because transport is free, ticket inspectors will give directions and act as a security presence.

Metro trains, trams and buses will be free from 3pm New Year's Eve to 8am New Year's Day.

Outbound city trams will run every five minutes between midnight and 1am on January 1, then every half an hour until normal services resume.

Flinders St and Southern Cross railway stations will be open all night, but City Loop stations will stay closed.

There will be an extra 230 train services to and from Flinders St station overnight. Trams will run on a Saturday timetable until 7pm New Year's Eve and then less frequently until every 30 minutes after 1am.

Yarra Trams said extra staff would be stationed around city hot spots such as Swanston St, the Arts Centre, Elizabeth St and Federation Square.

Some buses will run all night and NightRider early morning buses will run on most routes every 30 minutes from midnight until 4.30am.

For V/Line services a normal Saturday timetable will apply on New Year's Eve and a normal Sunday timetable will apply on New Year's Day.

There will be free travel on services arriving in Melbourne after 3pm on New Year's Eve and on the first service for each line on New Year's Day.

So if the trains are full, the nice ppl from Connex will drive us home?

we used to go to this killer greek NYE party with like arni sti souvla or should i say Arnia stis souvles and dancing and heaps of shit. but i dont think were going this year. i think were just staying home inviting some of my brothers friends n just bumming.
