It is a good result, and yes hopefully we do, do well this year, but remember yiota it's just a friendly... so we can't get ahead of ourselves
niko did you pop a lung laughing haha

Lol @ nikos reaction. Im just stating the truth. For once Niko it would be good if PAO fans like yourself also supported other Greek teams in Europe rather than bagging them all the time. Admit for once that it was a good result for Olympiakos even if it was a friendly. If we had got thrashed Im sure you guys would have started criticising us again.
niko
Jul 25 2006, 11:12 PM
All I can say is that if you count "winning in Europe" as a pre-season friendly victory, you Olympiakoi have truly set your standards high this year
Yiota
Jul 25 2006, 11:23 PM
Niko it is a start because not only did they win 4-0 but played really well. So just accept it and move on

FRIENDLY. FRIENDLY. FRIENDLY. You know the game that's purpose is to try out new formations, players and fuck around with tactics? Where you can make 6 substitutions per game and no one really gives a fuck? Where the result doesn't matter so no one really plays for one? This result doesn't mean shit and contrary to your beliefs, no it does not mean shit and it is not a "win in Europe". When we talk about "winning in Europe" we mean Champions League. Sure you have won in Europe in UEFA cup but let me tell you something, playing in front of 2,000 people at a friendly where nothing is at stake is nothing like playing in front of 70,000 blood hungry fans against 11 very serious professionals who all know that the result of these 90 minutes could mean the difference between bowing out of the most prestigious club football tournament in the world and being showered in glory for making the next round. It's like saying that because PAO drew with CL and UEFA Cup winning Porto in a 04/05 pre-season friendly, that we had gotten a great result against the best team in Europe and that we were building a mega team to go on and crash out of the Champions League group stages and finish third in Greece. There is simply no correlation. Congratulations on winning.. Just remember that PAO was winning it's friendlies 10 and 15 nil last season

Niko if I remember correctly in your previous post you said and I quote 'Congratulations for winning', For some reason you edited that and it isnt there anymore. I wonder why...It is good to be a good sportsperson and congratulate the opposing team. There is nothing wrong with that. I would congratulate PAO too and I have done so in the past. So follow your argument through and dont go back editing things
niko
Jul 26 2006, 12:50 AM
I am a very bad sportsperson and I remember nothing of the sort. My argument was taken out of context by you as it was meant to be sarcastic. I don't really give a shit about your team and I wish them every failure. I'd never congratulate your team on anything and I hope every player and club official burns in hell for the crimes they have done against Greek football
I'll even put it back for you so that you can put it back out of context again
Yiota
Jul 26 2006, 01:01 AM
Niko I was being anything but sarcastic and no I did not take anything out of context. I just dont understand why PAO fans have so much hatred against Olympiako especially when it comes to them playing in Europe. All Greeks, regardless of which team they support, should hope that any Greek team does well overseas. That is all I am trying to say. Simple!

Yiota

I think OSFP fans are not as bad. Most of us are happy to see PAO do well in Europe. Anyway I think we should agree to disagree and leave it there
niko
Jul 26 2006, 01:14 AM
Most are happy to see us do well in Europe? I'd like to see this stuff that world that you live in
Yiota
Jul 26 2006, 01:20 AM
I live in a world were most people I know are OSFP supporters and yet still support PAO in Europe just as much because they are a Greek team who represent us as a country overseas. Not all soccer supporters mind you are the type that go to the game to smash anything and everything they find or beat up supporters of the opposite team.

Simply because losing to Anderlecht in any capacity is embarassing. Losing a friendly against an average team means nothing, but the result is just a good excuse for a pisstake. Winning a friendly against any team also means nothing but you take it as your first win in Europe

i havnt read all the posts - but im sure Niko, being one of the only people here to have a clue about football
friendly's are only used to trial players and to try out different formations
like a team that plays 4-4-2 might try a 3-5-2 or something like that
they might even play some reserve grade players in the team - i also think theres unlimited substition as well

So losing to Anderlecht is embarassing but beating a team which came second in the German league last season means nothing? Sorry but you are certainly contradicting yourself there.
And if friendlies mean nothing, why were alot of us expecting Greece to beat Australia? Why are so many of us loooking forward to the England v Greece friendly? Yes, they are trial matches. The coach uses the game to substitute players and use different formats for the team but Im sure they dont go in it to lose.

They also beat Pao 5-0 last year..
Although it was CL.. different circumstances I suppose... anyway regardless i can't really comment on the game as i didn't watch it, but Olympiakos is showing good start's be it that they are just friendlies, it's a small taste of what's to come..
Yiota mou, there is no point questioning the hatred.. It basically comes down to the fact that OSFP and PAO have and alway's will be rivals, to start supporting one of the two team's automatically mean's you hate the other with a passion.. That's what makes the games so good to watch, the deep seeded hatred and the die hard fan's all trying to out cheer the other team, as far as i am concerned i hope to see PAO fail miserably in all aspect's of the footballing world.. always will.. Losing to Anderlecht is embarassing whenever it happens, like losing to Doxa Drama or something. Winning any friendly at all doesnt mean shit. It doesnt mean you are a better team and it doesnt count for anything. Players, coaches and (most proper) fans would not give two fucks about winning a friendly just as I dont care that we have drawn both of ours and just like I didnt care when we were beating teams by ridiculous amounts last year
