Although I am disappointed with the result I have had a great time the past week.

Guys write down your experiences

I'll start with mine

Going to the airport and meeting the players. I was there with Mega Koukla and some of her friends. Chanting with the HFC boys while we were waiting at the airport for the players to arrive. Screaming Oloi h Melvourni einai ble when the team finally came out.

Saturday night catching up with GreekPrince and some of my other friends at the antipodes festival. Missed the start when the players arrived but I was there when Otto said in the world cup go for Australia but on Thursday go for Greece.

Going to medallion with gp and my friends. After coffee we walked around and I bumped into Darth Maul who told me Mega was at the players hotel. At the time GP and I were talking to a friend of mine from HFC.

The three of us went to the players hotel and got photos taken with the players. Mega was there as were some other people I had met at the Olympiakos AEK cup final. The guys didn't have cameras so I took photos and emailed them. We met Dellas, Topolidis, Gekas and Anatolakis. Funny story I started singing the olympiakos theme song so I could get Anatolakis to come over so we could take the photo. Stavros Petros and Triple C drove us back to Lonsdale and we had a souvlaki at Stalactites.

Sunday was the Greek derby South Melbourne Hellas vs Heidelberg Alexander. What a game 3-1 to South. I was there with some friends, greekprince was there as well.

We got soaking wet watching the second half. Chanting with the South Melbourne boys. I stayed for the marathon cup presentation. Afterwards I met up with my friend for a coffee and then we headed to the hotel. Mega was there. I met Salpigidis, Nikopolidis & Karagounis. Nikopolidis didnt let the boys put their Olympiakos scarf on him.

I had a conversation with Karagounis and Topolidis. It made my night. As my friend and I were leaving Nikopolidis followed us outside. We didnt notice till we got in the car. We drove back but he had gone back inside.

We went in for a bit. Gagatsis was there and all the HFC boys started singing and chanting so I joined in.

Monday was the open training at Bob Jane Stadium. I was there with Mega and her friends. Anes came down too. It was great to finally meet her. Again it was raining but it didnt dampen our spirits.

Afterwards me, Anes, her partner, her brother, greekprince and Niko caught a maxicab to Lonsdale Street. Went for dinner at Dion (nice food). I fell walking up the stairs but the only thing that hurt was my pride. Niko left and the rest of us went to Medallion for coffee.

We walked up to the hotel but unfortunately security wouldnt let us in.

Wednesday JJ came in to town. I picked him up from the airport and we went straight to Lonsdale Street. Met up with Mega and Darth at Stalactites for a Souvlaki. Ajax joined us and so did Niko.

After dinner we all went to Medallion. Anes & co came as did one of my other friends. We were joined by Xristina, Niko, greekprince, soccer chick and soccer princess.

It was great to finally put faces to the names.

About 20 past midnight I realised it was Thursday and I said JJ its Thursday Happy Birthday. The waitress heard it and bought JJ a cake with a sparkler. We all sang happy birthday to him

The big day arrived. Lonsdale Street was buzzing, people everywhere. We were dancing and chanting. I met Hinrg, Blaze and Monty. Yiota her brother and Cookie came. I just want to say thank you to Yiota and Cookie for the beautiful present you bought me. Also met Smokey and Sexy Greek.

One of my highlights was seeing the big banner with "Macedonia Greek and Proud" The star of Vergina and Molon Labe on it.

One guy had a kangaroo with him (not a real one) dressed with the ethniki fanella. We walked all together to the MCG chanting as we were going. The roads were blocked off.

Once we got to the MCG the banner was taken down as they werent allowed to take it inside.

I was surprised at the number of Aussie supporters but I guess many Greeks decided to support Australia instead.

I was sitting with Yiota, her brother, Cookie, JJ, my brother, my cousin and his girlfriend. We were in M6, we had a great view. Unfortunately the crowd was not very vocal. What disappointed me was the number of people who were in bays M1 to M7 which were supposed to be the greek section. A lot of these people were not supporting Greece.

We had some Chileans behind us supporting Australia and my cousins girlfriend swore at them in Spanish. If it wasnt for the HFC boys there would have been no atmosphere at all.

The game itself was disappointing, I really wanted Greece to win. They didn't play well at all but Australia didn't play well either. I was disappointed that the team did not acknowledge us except for Dellas & Nikopolidis.

We had an after party to get to. Louky joined us. What can I say. The after party was awesome.

Highlights for me were me Anes and Xristina dancing on the podium. Getting told off for standing on the table by security. Dancing with the Sydney Olympic boys to name a few.

It was a pleasure to meet all of you.

I was dissapointed with Greece's performance in the 1st half of the match and at the end of the match where, exept for Nikopolidis, Samaras & Giannakopoulos, the Greek players didnt thank the Greek fans for coming to support them.
In the end though I am happy that I got to see Greece play live as EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS. That doesnt happen every day. I got my jersey signed by Charisteas & Samaras. They were great. They spoke to us & didnt mind us taking photos with them. I asked Katsouranis if he was going to Benfica & he just smiled & said "tha doume". Earlier in the day Goumas & Anatolakis went for a walk across the road from their hotel & sat & watch girls play netball.
My dad rings me today telling me I'm in the newspaper. Scared the shit out of me because I rang in sick at work & flew down to Melbourne. It was the Greek newpapaer though, O Kosmos. What a relief. I just happen to be with Jimmy Jump at the time & photographer wanted a photo.

It was a good week.

All of u who i met were nice.

The antipodes festival was cool.

It was nice seeing other groups of Greeks from all over Australia walking around city of Melbourne in their Greek scarfs and beanies and blue and white.

The training session on the Monday night had atmosphere.

The Greece Australia game was no where as good as ne of us expected but atleast the march to the MCG was good and the Macedonia banner pictures i hope will be posted on skop forums.

Despite the loss in the Soccer the aftermath was indeed sensational! Soccer is more than a Game! Its spectacular!

I really had a fantastic time. The atmosphere was awesome, everything that happened in those four days alone will be very hard to forget. Its going to be very hard to forget some of the things that happend in those 4 days. i really had a wonderful time, i met wonderful, interesting and amazing people.

It was truely a wonderful experience, not something that occurs everyday and thats what made it special.

Let me start with the Game. What can I say? Reading other peoples comments simply highlights all the important points. It was unreal. Ive never seen a sea of Greeks all under the one roof!

In my opinion out of the 93,000 people i reckon about 60% were greek.

Sennitsa was the first person I met in melbourne at the game. She is so cute. She let me pinch her magolia. She blushed then was overwelmed and kept quite! I reckon next time she meets me and i pinch her magolia (especially after reading this post!!) she will give me mad backhander, but im telling you guys its worth the pounding! She is a cutie!! clap2.gif

I know as a fact JJ had a good birthday. He did some nitty gritty on the dance floor too! thumbsup.gif
Im sure he will remember his birthday of 2006 in many more years yet to approach!!

I met so many peeps from both sydney and melbourne and basically those who wanted the time of their lives were there! Various_Artists-decayed.gif

I met and been introduced too so many people and it was a pleasure meeting all the people i previously met again and it was wonderful meeting the new people whom i have met on the thursday night.

Because there were so many people, Im not going to list them tongue.gif

Friday day and night i toured melbourne with my parea. I too went to Stalactites. They made nice food!

Other important highlight was kafedaki @ medallions cafe on lonsdale street.

here we caught up with about a dozen (maybe two) peeps. we caught up for coffee had a great laugh and chat ... and talked and talked ... and talked... hehehehe

I tried my best to talk to everyone and spend equal time with each of the persons there.

After a while (never paid attention to my watch) we went to publicity this is a greek club that was on that night... we got there early (just before midnight) yet I didnt leave until the early hours of the morning (5am) when it closed.

Had some damn good convos with people here, and funny ones too. I was drinking coke without the yianni wink.gif

Many people from sydney (non chat peeps) infact regular greek clubbers were there. There were many sydney people that i knew were there. Those people who wanted to have a great time were there. These are the ones that want a good time! Many people I already knew and just recently met were there. It was incredible!

The club itself was awesome i loved it. I love the atmosphere, the people are really friendly and at once stage a guy and a chick shouted me a drink because i made room for them to pass so they can get to the bar. I wish i can see something like this here.

The only downfall was it was freeeeezing cold!! Especially at night!!

All people were great, it was great putting a face to the name and getting to know them better.

I had quality time here at this club. I really enjoyed my trip to melbourne and I hope something like this happends again.

once again, thank you all for the memories. It was a pleasure meeting and socialising with you all.

you guys rock and so does melbourne.

I will never forget these 4 days nor the people that were part of it. smile.gif

*Soccer Princess*
Hey guys,
Well my trip to Melbourne was a shock... i have been been anywhere that cold before. I froze my ASS OFF. I got sick to because of it... The shopping was excellent... i was there for a week and i spent $1, 400 it was excellent.

On Wednesday night we met up with the GP gang at medallions for a cafe it was awsome meeting you guys!

The soccer game was a let down... not so much that greece lost but at the quality of the soccer.... you could see that both teams where holding back to avoid injuries and that led to a shitty game.

However the after party at platform 1 went off... im not a big drinker... which was evidenced by my weak attempt to down a Bicardi 151 shot.... not a good idea... i chocked on it half way and the rest came out of my nose... i was crying for 20 minutes and blowing my nose for an hour! after that it was smooth sailing with water and tissues every five minutes hahaha my little sister on the other hand... was able to drink the whole shot and have several other drinks back to back. We ended up walking back to hotel with no shoes on... just socks because my boots where killing me (yet anotehr experience you can not have in darwin due to the weather... we cant where boots).

I got sick while i was there and to this very day i can not get rid of the flu! i was complaining by the 3rd day that i wanted to come home.... Although it was good to get away it was soooooo much better to come home!
