OTIS VENTS HIS RAGE (Road Manners - Part I)

Ok folks, I'm getting on this here soap box, so y'all listen up!

1) Slow drivers: Sorry but these drivers annoy me the most, ESPECIALLY when hogging the right lane. There is nothing worse than being stuck behind a tosser doing 50 in an 80 zone (happens every time I go up nepean highway). What's even more annoying is when you go to overtake these sorry sons of bitches, they decide to speed up.

2) Drivers unaware of the speed limit: Again, drivers who don't see a big sign saying 80 with a big red circle around it, instead deciding to drive 90. Sure I'll pull over to the left lane to let them pass, this doesn't annoy me at all really (I'd rather have an impatient driver in front of me than on my tail), but what annoys me is that you'll cross over an intersection and the limit will actually change to 100 yet these fools continue to cruise on 90. No frickin idea!

3) Inconsiderate drivers: Why do some drivers always need to be first-in-line at intersections? and in doing so they think it's OK if they cut off trucks (and other heavy vehicles). I'd hate to be a truck driver, knowing that every single day I'm going to have some bastard cut me off last minute (whilst I'm braking at an intersection). These drivers are inconsiderate and extremely stupid.

4) Inconsiderate drivers 2: People who don't wave thanks also annoy me. If they are clearly the aggressive party who feel the urge to squeeze in front of you from the far left lane which is ending, requiring them to merge then they should wave thankyou, especially if they pushed in front of 20 cars to get there. Arrogant sons of bitches. Having said that, I must confess that on the odd occasion I 'cut in line' when I'm impatient, yet I'll always acknowledge those giving way to me.

5) Horn blowers: I don't like to honk my horn at slow people, I deal with it most times (esp if I'm driving in a residential area) but if anybody cuts me off without doing a headcheck, or if somebody puts my life (and their own lives) at risk with a stupid piece of driving, I will honk at their sorry asses. I don't care if they're old, young, a different race, a learner or even a hot chick Various_Artists-shifty.gif . They will feel the wrath of Otis' horn. I do yell abuse, but only with my window wound up. My passenger gets to hear naughty words.

In part 2 of "Otis Vents His Rage (Road Manners)" I will discuss my hatred of Chapel Street, drivers unaware of motorcyclists, stupid bicycle riders and their inability to ride in their massive bike lanes, ruthless taxi drivers... etc.

Stay tuned, for I am an angry young man. dry.gif

Topic moved to car lovers

Hook turns also happen in South Melbourne too. They are they for a reason. So that the tram system works efficiently.

I agree with all of Otis points.

I know what they are there for senna but they are funny to watch for a sydneysider...

OTIS VENTS HIS RAGE (Road Manners - Part II)

Continuing on from my last angry speech I shall step up onto the soapbox once again. Ahem...

6) Chapel Street: Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear... as some of you may know I am Greek-Australian (that's right), yet nothing disgusts me more than Chapel Street. After hours (especially on weekends) it has become the dirtiest, most ridiculous joke of a street in Victoria. I am not impressed by louuud speakers and fully shick subwoofaaas (especially when they are pumping out music that makes me sick - RnB, house, trance etc). I am not impressed by hotted up Celicas, VL's, VK's, Skyline's, 180sx's or anything with a maaaad turbo or V8. If you're not a professional racing car driver then why bother? Sure, there are car enthusiasts out there, but c'mon. The traffic on Chapel street on a saturday night is appalling, I have been stuck there before and it wasn't pleasant.. especially when every second car is full of stupid marios or stupid marias checking out the meat market that is slowwwwwwly driving past them in the opposite direction. Oh yes and then there's the burnouts, which just make me sick to my stomach (especially when it's in front of a restaurant). They're not impressing me, and their penis' aren't going to grow any more... so stop it dammit! Make it 'Chapel Walk'.

7) Drivers unaware of motorbikes on the road: OK one thing I CANNOT STAND is when people fail to do head checks. I have many friends and family members who ride motorcycles and almost all of them have had near death experiences because of lazy, negligent drivers. Motorcyclists don't sit in a car's blind spot, but when they overtake cars they always have to prepare for the worst, especially with drivers who suddenly swerve to change lanes (and those who fail to indicate too). Why can't drivers just be aware of everything around them!?!? Constant rear-view mirror checks help! Tunnel vision drivers annoy me.

8) Bicycle riders: OK this may seem harsh but I hate cyclists who ride on the road when they have their own bike lanes. I know the road has a smoother surface in the car lanes than in the bike lane, but why should motor vehicles have to be inconvenienced by slowing down and/or swerving into other lanes just to get around stupid cyclists who are scared of loose gravel in their huge bike lanes. They are putting their lives at risk too (which probably explains why I've NEVER seen a cyclist riding through Springvale).

9) Taxi Drivers: Not all taxi drivers annoy me, so again it's wrong to stereotype.. but I have found that when they aren't carrying passengers they can be quite ruthless and aggressive on the road. I don't like that. I don't appreciate it when a cab driver tries to speed up to cut me off.. it makes me MAD so I don't ever give them the space. It's annoying moreso because whenever I'm a passenger in a taxi they always drive slow to make those few extra dollars. Fair enough you need to make a living but don't be a jerk in the process.

In the next shocking instalment of OTIS VENTS HIS RAGE I will let out some steam on more action-packed topics such as:
"Indicate? But why?" - Otis' guide to indicating,
"It's OK, I drive a Mercedes" - Otis' hatred of luxury car 'sunday drivers',
"Oh my god oh my god oh my god" - Panic drivers, and
"Canyoneroooooo" - Otis' guide to sensible on-road 4WD driving.

I'm going to go listen to some Rage Against the Machine... it eases the pain.

While I'm gone, pity them fools.

Hehe, hook turns serve a good purpose but look like impromptu roundabouts! Horrible when ppl get them wrong, tho.

Huh? What's this all about?

My pet peeve is motorcyclists dodging in and out of lanes. Oh, and if u chose the lane that is turning right, don't expect me to let u in front of the rest of us who have been waiting. I made a diagram:

[===] [===] [======] [===] [===] . . . . . [===] [===] [===] |
. . . . . [===] [===] [===] . . . [MALAKA] . . . . . . [=====] [===] |

Fig. A: MALAKA is about to cut in.
Impossibleask
stavros very good lol

love the diagram to explain a malaka on the road..i dont think i quite have the patience to hop out of my car and show the malaka your diagram..lol....but i plan on keeping it handy lol

I am a zig-zagger driver...it shits me to tears sitting behind some law abiding citizen who thinks doing 5 kms under the limit is doing the right thing!

I think the best drivers are the confident ones...these are the people who make decisions quick and see them out..its the ones who change their mind about turning that make accidents happen!

at the end of every month when the cops need to fulfil their quotas (you know, for government revenue purposes), they all just swarm onto Chapel St, yet moron muzzas still forget and get themselves canaried and fined.

are the cops onto you guys in sydney with George St?
