AEK's game was marred by fan violence when a group of ticketless supporters attempted to break into the stadium and clashed with police.

Referee Dimitris Kalopoulos interrupted the match for 20 minutes when players and spectators experienced breathing problems caused by the tear gas used by police to disperse the hooligans outside the stadium.

The rioting fans burned a TV van which was broadcasting the match and damaged many private cars. Police did not immediately release details about injuries or arrests.

I have had enough with these fans rioting. They are all as bad as each other. Something must be done to control these fans. It is not good for Greek Soccer.

AEK will probably cop a fan ban.

I'm not bagging just AEK fans. I am bagging all the fans even my beloved Gavroi. How does the behaviour help the Greek League? How does it improve the standard of the game? How does it allow the clubs to buy good players when fans aren't allowed at the games?

A friend of mine rang me from the game and said they burnt the Alpha TV van. Stupid AEK fans giving Greek football a bad name tongue.gif

It's disgusting. I do like hoolaginism, but i like it how the Pom's have it, not this violent malakies like in Greece. Something really needs to be done to prevent this from happening in the future. It really is disgraceful.

Minimalistix are you kidding me, the British have stamped it out in EPL so you done hear about it. In lower divisions its as bad as ever. Anyway, the definition of hooliganism is violence, the British in the EPL that you see are not hooligans. They dont fight, they dont light flares, all they do is sing (and they cant sing either). I like it how we have it even if theres some violence sometimes, everytime i see the vazeloi on the fences with their flares i love it. As well as looking good, it actually gives you a great home advantage, tell me which European team wasnt scared to go to Leoforo
greekprince
Niko excellent response. I agree with you 100 percent.

Hooliganism is a form of fanatasism. Fanatasism is in the greek League and is a character of Greek Football. If you watch a game of the English Premier League, all you see if Football. If you watch a Greek game there is so much more to it, it has atmosphere. Fanatasism creates atmosphere, that's why we see people hanging on fences, lighting up flares and bringing horns and drums to the game. It's so good to watch you don't know what to expect and it's not going to be stale like watching Premier League.

Unfortunately the more money that is involved, the charachter of the game will change. If we see one incident of Hooliganism in the Premier League it gets huge coverage because the game there has become so big with so much money, they are paranoid and can't afford it to go in the wrong direction because people won't go to the games. One or two incidents and they say the game is out of control. We are smart enough to realise that that's bullshit, the premier league is tame. It's lost it's charachter, big business is powerful that's why we don't see hooliganism at many greek champions league games, it's the outside pressure.

In Greece they don't give a fck. My cousin is a crazy AEK fan and they laugh the hooliganism off, they don't even give it a second thought. It's part of the game and it's part of the whole fanatasism of Football in Greece.

We saw Australia play Uraquay. Stupid regulations by soccer in this country could have Fuckd up Australias chances. They had to give in and allow flags and small drums into the stadium. When it suits them they give in.

Lets see the real hooligans give it to the Aussies in Germany.

hooligansim is an art form, only the best can master it like the greeks or the argies at a boca v river plate game.

what you must understand is that hooliganism is also a way of dislaying the attitude that the government or higher forrces cannot suppress the individual.look at the countries which have some jerk off laws like here and the us. where do u see rioting for ppls rights? only places that have hooligism such as most meditterean countries like italy, turkey, greece and the like, shows that freedom of expression goes hand in hand with hooliganism.

as for the poms, what would they know? there pissed, thats why they brawl

are you saying that because of more freedom and less strictness in Greece, Italy and Argentina that there's more freedom of expression eg. Poliical Riots, Hooliganism etc.
That's what a lot of people say but i disagree...
The reason why there's more freedom of expression, eg. hooliganism, riots, etc. in Greece than just say Australia or the U.S. or other parts of Europe, isn't because the police and law aren't as strict in Greece, but it's simply because the Greeks and Argentines, have more balls than others therefore can do what they want...
Eg. If a aussie soccer fan, lights a flare and chucks it, he'll get taken away by cops and that will be that.
If a greek fan in greece lights a flare and chucks it at opposition fans, cops will try get him but if they try to, the cops will get the crap beaten out of them by the hooligans.

In my opinion it's down to the average Greek hooligan who is tougher and more rebllious towards authority (eg. cops), and have more balls, and will belt a cop at will, where in Australia, or the U.S. etc. your average soccer fan is much less likely to do it (except for Hellas, Croatia fans) because they don't have as much balls, and are more softock.
