This Sunday (19/07/2009) at Belmore Sports Ground (Edison Lane, Belmore, NSW, 2192) two times NSL Champions, Sydney Olympic will be playing against Sydney FC for the battle of Sydney. Fans are already eager for this game and ticket sales indicate that a large crowd is expected.

The gates at Belmore Sports Ground will open at 12pm with three enticing games forming the undercard to the main event that kicks off at 5.30pm.

At 12pm Sydney Olympic's Under 18's side will take on the NSW Institute of Sport Under 18's, followed at 2pm with Olympic's Under 16's facing the Australian National Deaf team.

At 3.45pm the Sydney Olympic Legends take on an All Star Legends team. Players expected to play in this match include Peter Katholos, Marshall Soper, Chris Kalantzis, Mark Koussas, Abbas Saad, Francis Awaritife, Zlatko Arambasic, John Kosmina, Charlie Yankos and more.

It will be a great time to pick up some Sydney Olympic merchandise as special discounts of up to 30% off will apply on the day. Sydney FC will also have a marquee for the sale of merchandise, memberships and possibly autograph opportunities. Red Bull will also be on hand with promotions and giveaways throughout the day.

Sydney Olympic is a proud foundation club, established in 1957 and has produced the likes of current Australia Socceroos, Tim Cahill, Brett Emerton, Jason Culina and in goals for Sydney Olympic will be the legendary Mark Bosnich.

Αυτήν την Κυριακή (19/07/2009) στο Μπέλπορ Σπορτς Γκράουντ (Edison Lane, Belmore, NSW, 2192) η δύο φορές πρωταθλήτρια του NSL, Σύδνεϋ Ολύμπικ θα αγωνιστεί εναντίον της Σύδνεϋ FC στην μεγάλη μάχη του Σύδνεϋ. Οι φίλοι της ομάδας έχουν ήδη δείξει ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον και με βάση την προπώληση των εισητηρίων αναμένεται να πολύς κόσμος στο γήπεδο.

Οι πόρτες στο Μπέλμορ Σπορτς Γκράουντ θα ανοίξουν στις 12μμ και θα προηγηθούν 3 πολύ ενδιαφέροντα παιχνίδια πριν τον μεγάλο αγώνα που θα ξεκινήσει στις 5.30μμ.

Στις 12μμ η ομάδα του Σύδνεϋ Ολύμπικ (κάτω των 18) θα αγωνιστεί με την ομάδα του Institute of Sport της ΝΝΟ κάτω των 18 και στην συνέχεια η ομάδα του Ολύμπικ κάτω των 16 θα αγωνιστεί με Εθνική ομάδα Κωφαλάλων της Αυστραλίας.

Στις 3.45μμ οι παλιοί αστέρες του Σύδνεϋ Ολύμπικ θα αντιμετωπίσουν μιά επίλεκτη ομάδα αστέρων του Αυστραλιανού ποδοσφαίρου με πολλά πρόσωπα έκπληξη αλλά και τους Πίτερ Καθόλος, Marshall Soper, Κρις Καλαντζή, Abbas Saad, Μαρκ Κούσα, Francis Awaritife, Zlatko Arambasic, John Kosmina, Charlie Yankos και άλλους σε έναν συναρπαστικό αγώνα που θα μας θυμίσει όλους τις παλιές μεγαλειώδης ημέρες του Σύδνεϋ Ολύμπικ.

At the Board Meeting on Tuesday, 21 July 2009 the Board met individually with players, Peter Zorbas and Mirco Jurllic following an incident on Friday night at Belmore Oval.

The Board accepted Mirco's explanation of his involvement in the incident as being an intemperate response by him for which he expressed regret and apologized to the President and the Board.

In the circumstances the Board reinstated Mirco who will now resume training with the team at the next training session.

Insofar as Peter Zorbas is concerned, unfortunately the Club and Peter could not reach agreement on a way forward and, at the players' request, agreed to release him.

Peter and his family have been associated with Sydney Olympic for a number of years during which time they have made a significant and valuable contribution to the Club. The Club deeply regrets that an accommodation could not be reached to resolve the issue with Peter.

As far as the Club is concerned this incident is now behind it and will now focus on the remainder of the season and lay the groundwork to prepare for the many challenges ahead in 2010.

At a personal level and as chairman of Sydney Olympic, I take this opportunity to express full confidence in the integrity, professionalism and commitment of the President, former President Jim Kospetas and each of the directors on the Board of Sydney Olympic.

While over the past season some matters may have been handled differently nevertheless there is no reason for any member or supporter of the Club to question the bona fides, dedication, ambition and industriousness of each of the directors.

This Club, as does all other Clubs, playing in the Premier State League face enormous challenges to maintain their respective viability in circumstances where support for the State Leagues has over recent years wained, particularly so where the State League does not enjoy broad media exposure, sponsorship, a player drain to the A-League and the general economic downturn.

The members and supporters of Sydney Olympic can however be assured that the Board will do whatever is necessary to ensure the continued success of the Club and its involvement in the Premier League competition.
