1. I, Robot by Isaac Asimov.
Not the crappy Will Smith movie, but the novel that has several short stories following Alfred Lanning trying to cope with malfunctions of robots in several environments using their logic to understand the scenario.
There are no murders, it's not a hollywood POS like I, Converse/JVC/Pepsi/Dos Equis
2. We by Yevgeny Zamiatin
A dystopian novel, much like 1984 (but much better in my opinion) also it pioneered the genre of Dystopia.
3. Cloud Street by Tim Winton
Australian classic, following two families that are brought together. Has a lot of magical realism, that is things happen that are magic but its treated like its nothing and it happens everyday. A book that really deserves internation recognition.

Colleen McCullogh's sextet on Rome...she breathes life into the history of the world's greatest empire starting from two generations before the birth of Caesar.
Michael Moorcock Elric of Melnibone...all of his stuff rocks really. The concept of the Eternal Champion central to all his material rocks but the anti-hero Elric with the soul-drinking blade called Stormbringer takes the cake.
Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon & Baroque Cycle trilogy...what can I say? Four epic tomes surrounding the exploits of two families from the time of the Enlightenment through to present time...in reverse.

yeah i did it in Lit too. I liked it. we watched the movie of it aswell. For the exam what we had to do was analyse three passages of it and link them together and draw the comparisons. i got B+ for it. so i was happy considering id been getting C's the whole year.

Yeah true, but Myer doesn't have as much variety as the stores that I mentioned. David Jones is similar to Myer as well and even has mad comfy chairs to sit on and read
