Has anyone here seen or read Perfume, I doubt it but why not ask? If so, give me your thoughts

i started reading it a few weeks ago... and read abit a day..

tis rather... disturbing.. The way its so detailed gives you a mental image of a women popping a child out in the grotty filthy fish market then using the knife she used on the fish to cut the cord is just so grose.. ohhhhh and the pit of bodies where they built the fish market sad.gif i can't stomach that kind of crap, it reminded me of Nuremburg and watching the Nazis empty carts of bodies.. grose.

I have 'the good german' to read next so i shall definately be getting more visuals.

Ps. Yes i do read, books, SMART ones.. not just cleo and cosmo laugh.gif

for a disturbing read, read desert flower. thats a very detailed book based on female circumsitions *female genital mutilation*. its a very graphic novel in terms of you being able to visualise the cuttings, the pain the atrocities etc, but at the same time its a mad insight into the lives of many women who dont know better...

.

back on topic now:
instead of watching hanibal rising last night which was my plan, i was made to go and watch "Norbit" the new Eddie Murphey movie. it wasnt as crash hot as id hoped. it had one or two lines that were pretty funny but the rest kinda sucked. Mr Wong's character was the funniest. lol. but id only give it a rating out of 3or4 out of 10.

oh and if you go and watch the movie... dont think about the message behind it like this particular reviewer.

"'Norbit' makes you not want to see another movie. Ever. Forgive my tendency toward hyperbole, but a choice between sitting through 'Norbit' again and being poked in alternating eyes for 102 minutes would require, for me, serious deliberation. Might have to sleep on that one.

It's not just a poorly made movie, but a loathsome and distasteful one to boot, consisting of one joke, over and over and over and over and over again, that wasn't funny the first time. The joke is that fat people are repulsive. Physically repulsive, disgusting creatures, deserving of what amounts to an hour and forty-two interminable minutes of pointing and laughing.

I will say this: I hope that one day Eddie Murphy becomes morbidly obese, so that he can become the object of the kind of ridicule he's spent a career dispensing. At least the 'Nutty Professor' movies had a "be yourself" message (albeit a half-assed one), and at least their overweight characters were sympathetic, likable people; no such luck in 'Norbit', whose chunky heroine Rasputia is a shrill, bitter, angry adulterer who abuses our poor hero physically and verbally, usually while trying to run over a dog.

So the film is mean, angry, offensive, and misogynistic (witness the scene where a woman in a kissing booth is informed that she's going to be a whore, to which she immediately agrees, followed by another woman who proclaims, "I want to be a ho!"). Some of that would be forgivable if 'Norbit' was funny. It isn't. There is, no exaggeration, not one laugh to be found in it—and I was counting (it was something fun to do while I was waiting to be entertained)."

Hannibal rising is the one I want to see. I bought the book yesterday so I hopefully I can read within the next two weeks so I can go and see it. I prefer to read the books first then watch the flicks.

I just watched the Illusionist with edward nortin

Great film with a great twist, very clever indeed and somewhat enjoyable throughout the entire thing. Highly recommended!

But then again I didn't mind the movie Rocky Balboa so maybe i'm not the greatest movie critic. Rocky 6 craps all over the first 5 Rocky films, it tinkers with the emotions a little more, even if the storyline is a little 'wanky' lol.

I saw Music and Lyrics last night with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, was not bad. I haven't seen a movie in a while. This was a cute funny/romace movie. Or in other words, a chick flick.
