Papadopoulos has been attacked by the shameless socialists who have tired to demonize him.
He saved Greece from the threat of communism and he saved Greece from civil war. The politehnio mess was in fact supported and sponsored by the American embassy, which tried to get control of the greek govt for the purposes of the State Dept and full control by Henry. It is wrong to attack this man,and he did good things for the country. Bless His Heart and may he rest in peace. If he was running things now,Olympiaki wouldnt dare to go on strike... |

Nothing is black and white Russel (only Blue and White lol)
Papadopoulos did have many positive effects for Greece, but his methods supressed the rights of his people and hurt many Greeks. If Papadopoulos and the colonels did not impose the Junta then Greece would have certainly joined the EU and would have been in a far better economic state now. His regime was violent and anyone that opposed him did not last too long. However, he did save Greece from a possible Communist takeover...how real the threat was...or if there was any real threat or just an american conspiracy is another story. Papadopoulos did delay the erosion of Greek culture. With the European union and Globalisation has come the barstardisation of the Greek culture. There were no greek rap on the radio, or pakistanous, kinezous and alvanous in peristeri in Papadopoulos's age. -------------------- <<Η Ζωή Είναι Μικρή. Ζήσε την Όσο Ζεις. look,i take a different take on "democracy".
we are all brainwashed that "democracy" is the best. well lets examine it. do we truly have "democracy"? representative democracy is a joke. a few people are elected on a politcal ticket, and then they put their hands up irrespective of how they or the people think about issues. the decisions for 4 years are made by blind power brokers behind the scenes. this is not what the people want. admittedly, there was some violenece against political dissidents under Papadopoulos. most of this violence was initiated and perpetrated by Ioannides.not by Papadopoulos. deep down he was good for Greece. today,if we had him around i can assure you i wouldnt have to keep having Olympiaki on strike constantly.i wouldnt keep having a ptrol strike constantly. i wouldnt constantly have Ethniki on strike contantly, and unab;le to get money. Papadopoulos was the man. next best thing..Karatzaferis.. |
